Compare football salaries, head to head

Every squad table and player page carries a compare button. Press it on any two players and a bar appears at the foot of the screen with both wages and the gap between them. The choice is kept in your browser, so the second player can be picked on a different page from the first.

Three sets: the 20 best paid players in our data, every pairing; the two best paid players at each club; and the two best paid in each league. Both players have to be on at least £10,000 per week, the same threshold we use to decide a player earns a page of their own. That comes to 497 comparisons.

The same current-season squad figures every other page on the site is built from, so a comparison can never disagree with either player page it links to. Wages are club salaries before tax and before bonuses, image rights or endorsements.

Yes — 26 of these comparisons are level, with nothing at all between the two on weekly wage. Those pages compare them on age, contract and career earnings instead.
