La Liga 2 prize money
La Liga 2 paid its 22 clubs £148m in 2024/25. Cádiz took £19,341,881 of it and Eldense £4,512,821, so the top of the division was paid 4.29x what the bottom of it was.
Spain sells its broadcast rights collectively and publishes what each club takes out of the sale, club by club, because the law that created the collective sale requires it. None of it is paid for finishing position: a club's share is set by a formula weighing what it has achieved over recent seasons and how large an audience it draws, alongside a share the whole division receives. Clubs recently down from the Primera are paid compensation on top of that share, which is why the three largest cheques belong to clubs that were in the top flight a season or two ago.
How the money is split
Every payment that makes up a La Liga 2 club's cheque
| PAYMENT | HOW IT IS PAID | DIVISION TOTAL |
|---|---|---|
| Audiovisual income | the club's share of the collective sale of broadcast rights | £120m |
| Relegation compensation | paid to a club in its first seasons down from the Primera | £28m |
| Statutory deductions | the contributions the Royal Decree takes out of that share | £11m |
| Paid to clubs | broadcast share and relegation compensation together | £148m |
The deductions are charged against a club's broadcast share rather than paid on top of it, so the total is the income column with relegation compensation added.

What the pot has done
The division paid out £148,119,658 in 2024/25, down -15.8% on the £175,982,906 of 2018/19. Every club in the division is paid out of that one pot, so the columns are the ceiling on every figure in the table above.
Espanyol have been paid more than any other club over the 7 seasons, £57,444,445. 4 of the 47 clubs here were in the division for all 7 of them; the rest went up or down and were paid for the seasons they were present.

Frequently asked questions
How much money does La Liga 2 pay its clubs?
£148,119,658 across the 22 clubs in 2024/25. Cádiz were paid the most, £19,341,881, and Eldense the least, £4,512,821. That figure is the club's share of the broadcast money plus, for clubs recently down from the Primera, their relegation compensation.
Why is the gap between La Liga 2 clubs so wide?
Because the money is not paid for finishing position. Spain splits the collective sale of its broadcast rights by a formula that weights what a club has achieved over recent seasons and how large its audience is, alongside a share every club receives. Clubs recently relegated from the Primera are paid compensation on top of that, which widens the division further. Cádiz were paid 4.29x what Eldense were in 2024/25, a spread of £14,829,060 across a single division.
What are the deductions?
Contributions the law takes out of a club's broadcast share before the club keeps it, set by the same decree that put the rights into a collective sale. They are charged against the income rather than paid on top of it, which is why the totals on this page are the income column. In 2024/25 they came to £10,777,778 across the division.
Which La Liga 2 club has been paid the most?
Espanyol, £57,444,445 across the 7 seasons on this page. 4 of the 47 clubs listed were in the division for all 7 of them; the rest were paid for the seasons they were present.
Does this include European prize money?
No. These are the central payments the league makes to its own clubs out of the sale of its broadcast rights. Money from the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League is paid by UEFA, and anything a club earns from the Copa del Rey is separate again.
Where do the figures come from?
LALIGA publishes the split club by club at the end of every season. 7 seasons are on this page: 2024/25, 2023/24, 2022/23, 2021/22, 2020/21, 2019/20 and 2018/19. The published figures are in euros and are shown here in pounds.

For a league that publishes its formula rather than its payments, see Bundesliga prize money. For the knockout cups, see FA Cup prize money and Carabao Cup prize money.
