Championship parachute payments
A club relegated from the Premier League is paid £48,950,000 in its first season in the Championship. A club that has never been up is paid £5,340,000. Both come out of the same Premier League money, and the first is 9.2 times the second.
The Premier League publishes the equal share of broadcast revenue, and it fixes the parachute percentages in its rules. It does not publish the two multiplied together. The three bands
The two columns every Premier League club is paid the same amount from, one for the UK deal and one for the international deal. The equal share is the one part of Premier League central income a club cannot win or lose: it is paid at the same rate to the champions and to the club finishing bottom, which is why a percentage of it is the same percentage for every club that goes down.

What each division takes
Solidarity is a share of a share, so it moves with the same Premier League income the parachutes do. In 2024/25 that put £5,340,000 into a Championship club with no parachute and £48,950,000 into one relegated the season before, in the same division, in the same season, from the same source.

Each band is paid out of a different season's equal share, so a run only totals where we hold all three

A club promoted and relegated straight back takes the two-season figure, because the third band is paid only where a club had been in the Premier League for more than one season. A club promoted during the run takes less again: the payments stop the season it goes up. The relegations of 2023/24 and 2022/23 are still being paid, so they have no total yet. The run from 2017/18 passes through 2019/20, which we hold no Premier League payments for.

Promotion ends the run where it stands, so a club with a season beside it stopped drawing the payment then and the two it went down with carried on without it. Six of the nine clubs across three relegations were back in the Premier League before their three years were out, which is why so few parachute runs are ever paid in full.

Yes. A club that goes back up is paid as a Premier League club again and the parachute ends, so the run is only ever as long as the stay in the Championship.

Do parachute payments go up every season?
They move with the Premier League's broadcast income rather than on their own. The equal share behind them was £77,546,127 in 2018/19 and £89,000,000 in 2024/25, and the percentages have not moved, so the payments followed.
