The women's figure as a share of the men's

Two kinds of case sit on this list. The ICC, the Rome tournament and the UCI each set a men's and a women's ladder, and at these places set the women's higher. The rest are separate events where the women's came out ahead. The two tours each put up $15,500,000 for their finals, and the WTA pays less for a group win and more for everything else. At the Canadian Open in 2024 the women's event was the richer tournament of the two, which is a difference of tier rather than of rate. At the All Japan Open Championship in 2015 the women's winner took more out of a purse 71% the size of the men's.

The women's side is ahead on the fee, the semi-final and the final, and the men's on every group-stage win, $396,500 against $355,000. So the order flips for a player who wins one group match and goes out: $727,500 in the ATP Finals against $695,000 in the WTA Finals. The rest of tennis, where the four majors pay one ladder to both draws, is on men's and women's tennis prize money.

India took $4,480,000 for winning in 2025, $480,000 more than Australia took in 2023. The gap is widest lower down: a team finishing fifth or sixth was paid $700,000 plus $250,000 for taking part, where a men's team out in the group stage was paid $100,000. The one line the men win is a group-stage win, $40,000 against $34,314.

A men's WorldTour stage pays €10,000 down twenty places and a women's €3,930, so the women's scale is the smaller by far and still pays more from 10th to 15th: the men's scale drops to its floor of €100 at tenth, and the women's is still paying €170 there. The one-day races, and the rest of the comparison, are on men's and women's cycling prize money.

The men's editions are Canadian Open 2024, Malaysian Open 2014, Tornado Open 2016 and All Japan Open Championship 2015. These are the only 4 of the 41 squash and pool pairs we hold where the women's side is ahead on either figure.

A pair is the same competition in the same year with a men's and a women's field: a tennis event paying both draws, a UCI scale for the same kind of race, or a tournament, venue or World Cup stop held for both. Freestyle skiing, Cross-country skiing, Swimming, Speed skating, Figure skating, Triathlon, Trail running, Gravel racing and CrossFit pay every winner the same. Ski jumping is the other end: the men's winner is paid more in 17 of 18.
