About the 2011 auction
How the auction worked and what changed from the one before
The 2011 auction was a mega auction, held at the start of a new cycle of player contracts: each franchise kept only a handful of its players and bought the rest of its squad in the room. That is why 127 players were sold, against 11 at the 2010 auction.
Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala bought at an IPL auction for the first time, as the league grew from eight franchises to ten.
