Grand Slam of Darts prize money
The PDC paid £550k to the 32 players at the 2019 Grand Slam of Darts, the one tournament with a group stage, so a player can lose a match and still win it. Winning it was worth £125,000, and the smallest payment at the event was £4,000.
A player is paid once, for where the run ended. The band is the whole of it rather than a step on the way to it, so a player who lost in the semi-finals collected £40,000 and not that plus every band beneath it. Read as single payments the seven bands come to £522,000, and the group winner bonus accounts for the other £28,000 of the £550,000 pot. Read as a ladder they do not: the champion alone would take £271,500, against the £125,000 Gerwyn Price was actually paid for the title.
What each finishing place paid
The seven bands the 32 players are divided into
| FINISHING PLACE | PLAYERS | EACH | THE BAND |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winner | 1 | £125,000 | £125,000 |
| Runner-up | 1 | £65,000 | £65,000 |
| Semi-finalists | 2 | £40,000 | £80,000 |
| Quarter-finalists | 4 | £20,000 | £80,000 |
| Last 16 | 8 | £10,000 | £80,000 |
| Third in group | 8 | £7,500 | £60,000 |
| Fourth in group | 8 | £4,000 | £32,000 |
| Paid for finishing | 32 | — | £522,000 |
What each band took between them
How far each band got
Winning it paid 31.3 times what the fourth in group band paid. Inside a band nothing separates one player from another: the eight players who lost in the round of 16 were all paid £10,000, whether they lost by a leg or by a mile. It is also why the bands come to £522,000 rather than the £550,000 on the poster. Eight players collected the group winner bonus of £3,500 on top of the band their run ended in, £28,000 in all and out of the same pot.
The money does not stack
What the champion took, and what a ladder would have paid
This is the one thing about darts money that is worth getting right, because every other prize fund on this site works the other way. A club in the Champions League is paid for reaching the last sixteen and paid again for reaching the last eight, and the run is worth the sum of them. In darts there is no sum: a player is paid for where the run ended and for nothing before it. Multiply each band by the players in it and the total is £522,000, which with the £28,000 group winner bonus is the £550,000 the PDC put up. Add the bands the other way and the champion alone takes £271,500.

Gerwyn Price was paid £125,000 for winning it rather than that on top of every band beneath, which is what makes the seven bands add up to £522,000 of the £550,000 the PDC put up, the group winner bonus being the rest.

Frequently asked questions
How much did the 2019 Grand Slam of Darts winner get?
£125,000, and Gerwyn Price is who collected it. It is the whole of what the champion was paid: there is no separate payment for each round on the way to it.
What was the Grand Slam of Darts prize money in 2019?
£550,000 across the 32 players. £522,000 of it went on finishing place, split into seven bands from £125,000 down to £4,000, and £28,000 was the group winner bonus paid to the eight group winners on top of their band.
What is the smallest payment at the Grand Slam of Darts?
£4,000. That is the fourth in group band, which covers eight players who finished bottom of the group. No player at the 2019 event collected less.
Does Grand Slam of Darts prize money add up round by round?
No. A player is paid once, for where the run ended, and the band is the whole of it. A player who lost in the semi-finals collected £40,000 and not that plus every band beneath it. Add the seven bands up as single payments and they come to £522,000, which with the £28,000 group winner bonus is the £550,000 pot; add them as a ladder and the champion alone would take £271,500.
Which band pays out the most at the Grand Slam of Darts?
Winner, at £125,000. Nobody else at the event is paid more in one payment.
