UK Open prize money

The PDC paid £600k to the 158 players at the 2023 UK Open, the open draw, where every round is drawn at random and a tour card holder can come out against a qualifier. Winning it was worth £110,000, and the smallest payment at the event was £1,000.

A player is paid once, for where the run ended. The band is the whole of it rather than a step on the way to it, so a player who lost in the semi-finals collected £30,000 and not that plus every band beneath it. Read as single payments the ten bands come to £600,000, which is the pot. Read as a ladder they do not: the champion alone would take £225,000, against the £110,000 Andrew Gilding was actually paid for the title.

Last 128 £1,000 lost in the round of 128

Winning it paid 110 times what the last 128 band paid. Below that the UK Open pays nothing: the 30 players who lost the first match left with £0. Inside a band nothing separates one player from another: the 32 players who lost in the round of 64 were all paid £2,500, whether they lost by a leg or by a mile.

The money does not stack

What the champion took, and what a ladder would have paid

2023
What Andrew Gilding was paid £110,000 One payment, for winning it
Every band added together £225,000 What the champion would take if each round paid on top of the last
The bands as single payments £600,000 Which is the pot, to the pound

This is the one thing about darts money that is worth getting right, because every other prize fund on this site works the other way. A club in the Champions League is paid for reaching the last sixteen and paid again for reaching the last eight, and the run is worth the sum of them. In darts there is no sum: a player is paid for where the run ended and for nothing before it. Multiply each band by the players in it and the total is £600,000, which is what the PDC put up. Add the bands the other way and the champion alone takes £225,000.

Frequently asked questions

How much did the 2023 UK Open winner get?

£110,000, and Andrew Gilding is who collected it. It is the whole of what the champion was paid: there is no separate payment for each round on the way to it.

What was the UK Open prize money in 2023?

£600,000 across the 158 players. It is split into ten bands by finishing place, from £110,000 down to £1,000, and the bands add up to the pot exactly.

What is the smallest payment at the UK Open?

£1,000. That is the last 128 band, which covers 32 players who lost in the round of 128. Below it the draw pays nothing at all: the 30 players who lost the first match were paid £0.

Does UK Open prize money add up round by round?

No. A player is paid once, for where the run ended, and the band is the whole of it. A player who lost in the semi-finals collected £30,000 and not that plus every band beneath it. Add the ten bands up as single payments and they come to £600,000, which is the pot; add them as a ladder and the champion alone would take £225,000.

Which band pays out the most at the UK Open?

Winner, at £110,000. Nobody else at the event is paid more in one payment.
