The last cheque inside the money is a median £30, against a median winner of £427 in the same classes.

A class spreads its fund over a quarter of the starters, so most of a field is paid nothing and the rider at the bottom of the sheet is paid this. It is the figure that decides whether a clear round in the middle of a big field was worth the diesel.
