Australian Open prize money
The Australian Open raised its fund 16 per cent to AU$111,500,000 in 2026. The singles champions took AU$4,150,000 each, and losing in the first round was worth AU$150,000 - the highest opening-round cheque of the four majors in its own currency.
A player is paid once, for the round they went out in. The figure is the whole of it rather than a step on the way to it, so somebody who lost in the last eight took AU$750,000 and not that plus every round beneath it. Add the eight figures up as a ladder and the champion alone would be on AU$9,482,750, against the AU$4,150,000 Tennis Australia actually pays.
